To commemorate 150 years of Fritz Hansen, the iconic Egg chair designed by Arne Jacobsen is now available with a remarkable black PVD base and a brand new upholstery selection. Originally designed for the lobby and reception areas in the Royal Hotel, in Copenhagen, the chair is one of the triumphs of Jacobsen’s total design – a sculptural contrast to the building’s almost exclusively vertical and horizontal surfaces.

The Egg Chair sprang from a new technique, which Jacobsen was the first to use; a strong foam inner shell underneath the upholstery. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen strove to find the shell’s perfect shape in clay at home in his own garage.

Choose between never before seen exclusive Vanir wool or Grace leather for upholstery. Designed by world-renowned designer Raf Simons for Kvadrat, Vanir is a woollen fabric inspired by historical military jackets, yet supremely soft. The fabric features a beautiful and unique pattern using different colours in warp and weft. The chair is also available upholstered in an all-new dark brown Grace leather with a unique chestnut hue.
